The Elgin Youth Football and Cheer Junior Football team won the Central Texas Youth Football League Championship game Saturday, Nov. 18, as this Wildcats team ended the 2023 season with an undefeated record of 10-0.

All-district awards for 5A-District 23 were announced last week, and there was no shortage of Lady Wildcats on the list. Under head coach Patricia Rivers-Taylor, Elgin was well represented amongst selections from the teams in their district.

BASTROP – The Cedar Creek High School girls varsity basketball team picked up a pair of dominant victories at home over Austin Eastside Early College High School and Austin Travis Early College High School.

BASTROP – The Bastrop High School varsity volleyball team under head coach Morgan Rollins was recently honored with 5A-District 23 all-district awards following the 2023 season.

Three standout Elgin High School varsity softball players signed their National Letter of Intent Wednesday, Nov. 8 as Lady Wildcats seniors Jessica Cantrell, Jaylan Roberson and Mackenzie Farris signed to play collegiate softball on National Signing Day.

WACO – The Elgin High School girls varsity basketball team came close to picking up its first win very early in the 2023-24 season as the Lady Wildcats traveled Nov. 11 to Waco High School and fell 39-27 to the 6A Lady Lions on the road.

AUSTIN – The Elgin High School boys varsity basketball team started off the 2023-24 regular season with a bang as the Wildcats traveled Saturday afternoon and ground out a 52-49 victory on the road over the Knights of Austin McCallum High School.

BASTROP – The Bastrop High School girls varsity basketball team picked up a pair of two impressive victories this past week as the Lady Bears improved to 3-0 early in the 2023-24 regular season. The Lady Bears went on the road Nov. 7 and knocked off Del Valle High School 52-43 and then Nov. 10 won a gritty 40-38 game at Gonzales High School.

MCDADE – A history-making McDade High School varsity volleyball team under head coach Aaron Hallford was honored as the Lady Bulldogs were recognized in the 1A-District 28 all-district team.

MCDADE – McDade High School has successfully made the transition from fall to winter sports after the Lady Bulldogs varsity basketball team opened the 2023-24 regular season Nov. 10 with a 45-30 victory at home over Waelder High School.

BASTROP – The Cedar Creek High School boys varsity basketball team bounced back from Friday night’s season-opening 62-43 loss at Manor High School in a huge way Saturday afternoon as the Eagles thrashed Austin Eastside Early College High School 95-45 at home.
